Interestingly, Tomaidh Mòr was also the grandson of William Mackintosh, He held the dual positions of 8th chief of the Chattan Confederation and 7th chief of Clan Mackintosh. The clan's motto, "Deus Meus Adiutor" which translates to "God is my helper," reflects this loyalty and the clan's dedication to their faith. The clan played a significant role in many of the conflicts, including the Wars of Scottish Independence and the Jacobite uprisings of the 17th and 18th centuries.
